5.0 replacement air booster fan

The first one we received had an issue, but the second one seems to be in working order. These are easy to install yourself, if you have enough room to work.

5.0 Excellent!

Just installed this fan, the old one "only" lasted 23 years, as the replacement. Works like a charm. Getting ready to sell this home and I wanted this done, and so it is! Thank you!

5.0 This motor/fan lives up to its name!

One just like this was installed in our 1993 house that we bought 7 years ago. It was used to pull air in the crawl space under the basement floor at one end of the house and blow it out the other end. It was actuated by a hygrometer in the crawl space, by a sump pump. If it got too humid under there, it turned on. So it prevented build up of moisture and possible mold. I suspect it also evacuated possible radon gas as well. When it ran, it ran for hours, sometimes days, at a time. After 25 years of that, the bearings started wearing out and it was noisy. So I bought a new one exactly like the original. Nice and quiet now. Of course it fit right into the existing ductwork. This product lived up to it's manufacturer's name, Duralast! I suspect the new one will last another 25 years.

5.0 First one Lasted 13 Years

Great air booster for second floor rooms. First RH-6 lasted 13 years in a New England Colonial home. Very quiet and reliable. Certainly worth the price.

Q:
Can you decrease the cfm so that the rush of the air isn't quite as loud, like being a softer woosh, e.g. installing a high, medium or low switch?

The Duralast Air Booster's are not equipped with a speed control to reduce the rated CFM.  As each application is different, we can not comment on field Instillation.  Safety should always come first, as such, we highly suggest having a licensed contractor review your application to see if it is safe to add a speed control to the booster.

A:
There is nothing that would prevent you from installing the air booster vertically. It's more about where you install it in the duct that will provide the best assist to your air flow. You can see more about the Robin Hood Air Booster series installation HERE.  As always we recommend you consult with a local licensed technican before any installation.

Q:
What is the difference between the RH & CS models?

A:
The difference between the two models is the wiring location. The CS series boosters have the wiring in a box attached on the outside of the booster in a housing.
The RH series boosters have the wiring inside the unit, The boosters have the same CFM and electrical specs.

If you are replacing an old one as I was, you can just get the RH model and reuse the old connection box on the outside. It just attaches by two screws, and the wiring goes through a grommet. That way you can save a few $$.
